The town of Viera is located in the heart of Brevard County, Florida's Space Coast. You've heard it before, but it really is all about location. VIERA....History in the Making:
1940's: Cocoa Ranch
1960's: The construction of I-95 through the Ranch changed the nature of the property, and it was decided that the best way to accomodate the growth approaching the Ranch was to create a master-planned community.
1989: The master plan for Viera is announced. The Viera Company donated 30 acres of land to the school board, and another 53 acres of land to the Brevard County Government Operations Center.
1990: Viera DRI (Development of Regional Impact) approved for 3,200 acres on the east side of I-95.
1991: VIERA REALTY, INC. is established. Viera Company donates 56 acres of land for a new Brevard Zoo.
1992: Hammock Lakes is the first residential community to begin construction in Viera. Viera Boulevard constructed from US1 to Murrell Road.
1993: Space Coast Stadium opens up on land donated by The Viera Company.
1994: Viera East Golf Course opens, and The Viera Company constructs Stadium Parkway at no cost to the taxpayers. Viera earns ENVY award from Florida Association of Realtors for balancing residential development with the natural environment.

1995: Additional 5,800-acre expansion of the Viera DRI is approved for the west side of I-95. The Heritage opens in Viera East and is the first gated custom-home community.
1996: VA Clinic and Justice Center opens on land donated by TVC. Construction begins on Wickham Lakes, the first residential community west of I-95 in Central Viera.
1998: Population reaches 6,000
2001: Ralph Williams Elementary School opens on 15 acres donated by The Viera Company.
2003: Viera's second elementary school, Manatee Elementary opens. The first 124 acres of land is donated to Brevard County for the Viera Regional Park and Soccer Fields.
2004: The Avenue Viera, an upscale, open air retail and entertainment center opens. Viera's third elementary school, Quest Elementary opens. Population reaches approximately 14,000.
2005: Duran Golf Club opens with a championship 18-hole course designed by Chip Powell. Top 50 world class lighted development center featuring 9 hole par 3 practice course and driving range.
2006: Viera High School opens. Viera Builders is established. An estimated 18,000 residents live in Viera.
2007: Viera Blvd. is connected from east to west with a bridge that crosses I-95, constructed by The Viera Company. Two more community parks are opened, bringing in the total in Viera to six. 5,500 jobs and 87 businesses call Viera home.
2008: The world class Health First Pro-Health & Fitness Center opens in Viera Health Park.
2009: Additional 11,500-acre expansion of the Viera DRI is approved for the wetern expansion of Viera. Viera Wildnerness Park is approved - over 5,200 acres will remain undeveloped and help assure the long-term protection and enhancement of Viera's natural resources and protected species including: the American Bald Eagle, Crested Caracara, Sandhill Crane, the Burrowing Owl, and the Gopher Tortoise. The Wildness Park will be managed by the Viera Stewardship District.
2010: Population reaches 20,000
2011: Viera Hospital opens
2014: Viera Celebrates its 25th Anniversary! Over 22,000 residents in Viera, over 8,500 jobs generated over 240 businesses both large and small.
2016: Viera ranked 22nd of Top 50 Master-Planned Communities in the US.
2016: Addison Dog Park opens in West Viera!
2018: February 2018 opening weekend for USSSA at the Space Coast Complex in Viera.
Dec 2018 - Urban Air Aventure Park due to open in The Avenue shopping center (in the old Sports Authority location).
